Individual therapy

A space of your own, in the language you choose

For adults carrying a lot: work, family, a move, a loss or the tiredness of being the one who holds everyone up.

You work one conversation at a time, with a therapist who speaks Spanish and English and does not ask you to explain your culture.

What to expect

What it is like, in six points

  • What sessions are like

They run 50 minutes, in person in Houston or by video. You talk and your therapist listens, asks and suggests, without hurry.

  • The method

Each therapist explains how they work and why, and confirms their training with you. If a method does not suit you, it changes.

  • What it is not

It is not an assessment for a court or an application, not an emergency service and not a place for prescriptions.

  • Length and frequency

Your therapist sets the pace with you. We do not promise a number of sessions.

  • The risks

Talking about hard things can be uncomfortable at first. Your therapist explains the possible risks and benefits before you begin.

  • How it is paid

You pay yourself at the end of each session, with a good faith estimate in writing before you start. It is explained on the fees page.

Three questions about this service

What happens in the first session?

It lasts 60 minutes. Your therapist explains how they work, the limits of confidentiality and the possible risks and benefits of therapy, and listens. At the end, you both decide whether to continue.

How often, and for how long?

Your therapist sets the pace with you. We do not promise a number of sessions: it depends on what you want to work on and how you feel.

What is confidential, and what are the limits?

What you share stays in the session. The law sets limits: if someone is at serious risk of harming themselves or another person, or if abuse of a child or an older adult is suspected, your therapist may have to tell others. We explain this in writing before you start.
